Help Us Shutdown The Siheung Dog Butcher Forever - Siheung Slaughterhouse Shutdown

This is the Siheung dog slaughterhouse we shut down just a few hours ago with KARA. It's one of the hotbeds of illegal dog meat distribution in Korea that @animal_kara and @kk9r.kr have been tracking for a long time. They have watched live dogs unload from trucks daily by the dozens and stuffed into tiny cages together, crushing them all together for torture and slaughter. Truck after truck unloading frightened, innocent, precious beings knowing something terrible will happen to them. The Siheung butcher was a significant force traveling around Gyeonggi province, killing as many as 20-30 per day through slow and painful electrocution, drowning, and hanging torture. His machines were crude and meant to remove all the fur from their skin while keeping them intact for consumption. It's hard to imagine the kind of hell we witnessed through pictures and videos when we raised his last operation today with the mighty @animal_kara team of activists, but the show of force we imposed was solid and unrelenting. We wore our compassion on our sleeves and determination on our faces that we would not relent or give up until the Siheung butcher was stopped. Three dogs died when we burst in, and 24 were still alive in their cage, witnessing the brutality. The trauma these dogs see will eventually be erased with our loving care and adoption.

The fight will be to have the city of Siheung hold the butcher and slaughterhouse members accountable for their heinous actions. This will be in the hands of the city court system and us to prove that the slaughter and dog meat distribution was also illegal—a tough fight ahead but one that could set a legal precedent in Korea.

We can't do this without your support and sharing. We are setting up an extensive campaign this time to help vet and rehabilitate the 24 dogs rescued from the Sihueng slaughterhouse and help us fight the protracted legal battle that lies ahead because of thin animal welfare laws in Korea. We are taking ten precious dogs into our possession, and 14 will go to Kara. We extend our deepest gratitude to those involved in this critical mission, including our team of brave young trainers who gently handled the dogs and did not falter in the face of fear and death. Most of all, our KK9R manager broke the lock of the slaughterhouse door to get inside and save the rest of the dogs. We pray for her not to be criminalized and dismissed, as it is her right to rescue these dogs.
